Dual Exhibitions Paint a New Landscape of Medical Innovation—A Report on Participation in CMEF and ICMD 2025

The joint launch of the 92nd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) and the 39th China International Medical Equipment Design and Manufacturing Technology Exhibition (ICMD) is quietly reshaping the competitive landscape of the global healthcare industry. Spanning 200,000 square meters and gathering nearly 4,000 enterprises, this industry-wide event serves not only as a showcase for innovative products but also as a frontier for supply chain restructuring and technological revolution.

CMEF: The Intersection of Clinical Innovation and Industrial Transformation

This year's CMEF, themed “Health · Innovation · Sharing—Charting a New Blueprint for Global Healthcare,” features 28 major exhibition zones forming an innovation matrix spanning the entire medical field. In the rehabilitation aids section, the newly launched aerospace-grade folding wheelchair became the center of attention. Constructed with an aviation-grade aluminum alloy frame, this wheelchair folds to a thickness of just 12 centimeters and weighs under 8 kilograms while supporting up to 150 kilograms. It features removable armrests and footrests, perfectly meeting airline overhead bin storage standards. “Addressing the travel challenges faced by people with disabilities, we collaborated with aviation industry teams for three years to solve the ‘difficult boarding and storage’ issues of traditional wheelchairs. It has now been certified by 12 major global airlines,” explained the Hu邦 booth representative while demonstrating the folding process. A simulated aircraft overhead bin display allowed visitors to experience the product's convenience firsthand.

This product represents the pinnacle of our technological expertise. We have specially designed an experiential zone at our booth simulating an aircraft cabin aisle, which has drawn significant interest from numerous hospital procurement representatives and airport service providers. We provided them with a detailed overview of its core features:

Ⅰ. Ultra-Narrow Design: Perfectly fits the narrow aisles of all mainstream passenger aircraft, ensuring unobstructed passage.

Ⅱ. Lightweight and Agile: Constructed from specialized high-strength aluminum alloy, its extremely light overall weight allows ground crew to operate it with one hand, significantly reducing physical strain.

Ⅲ. Removable Handrails/Footrests: Facilitates assisting passengers to slide sideways into aircraft seats within confined spaces.

Ⅳ. Compliant with Aviation Safety Standards: All materials are flame-retardant and anti-static, with no sharp protrusions in details, ensuring flight safety.

An international airport representative remarked, “This is exactly what we needed! Traditional wheelchairs are impossible to maneuver in the cabin. Your product truly solves the pain point in the final link of our service chain.”

CNEF ICMD

In the rehabilitation aids section, the lightweight aluminum wheelchair series emerged as the star attraction at the exhibition. Crafted with an aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum alloy tubing frame, this series undergoes specialized heat treatment and anodized surface finishing. This not only achieves a 35% weight reduction compared to traditional steel wheelchairs but also delivers exceptional corrosion resistance and deformation resilience, supporting up to 120 kilograms. Tailored for diverse scenarios, the line includes home-use, outdoor, and nursing models. The outdoor version features large-diameter shock-absorbing rear wheels and anti-slip tires for navigating gravel, slopes, and other challenging terrains. The nursing model incorporates adjustable armrests and removable footrests to facilitate caregiver-assisted transfers. “We conducted in-depth research on the needs of over 2,000 users and 500 elderly care institutions, ensuring every detail revolves around ‘safety, comfort, and convenience.’”

  • Modular design: Seat width, seat depth, backrest height, and footrest angle are all customizable to meet individual user needs.

  • User-Centric Details: Quick-release wheels, antimicrobial breathable seat cushion, and ergonomic push handles—every detail reflects our commitment to user dignity and comfort.

Therapists and end-users at numerous rehabilitation centers have personally tested this chair, consistently praising its flexibility and sturdiness.

ICMD Manufacturing Expo: Discovering the “Source of Excellence” for Products

As a product manager, I never miss ICMD. This is where we find innovative inspiration and validate our supply chain. The perfect balance of lightness and strength in our company's aluminum wheelchairs stems directly from our deep cultivation of upstream supply chains.

The Secrets of Materials: We engage directly with top aluminum suppliers to explore the properties of new aluminum alloys, seeking ways to further reduce weight while maintaining strength.

Refining Craftsmanship: In the precision machining and welding technology exhibition area, we observed more advanced equipment, providing direction for enhancing frame precision and aesthetics in the future.

Innovative Components: At ICMD, we discovered lighter bearings, more durable tire materials, and more user-friendly folding lock designs. These incremental improvements, when combined, will enable a qualitative leap in our next-generation products.

Summary: Bridging Technology and Needs, Making Care Accessible Everywhere

This year's CMEF & ICMD experience has further solidified my belief in the company's strategic direction. While the entire industry pursues cutting-edge “black technologies,” we remain steadfastly focused on addressing users' most practical and urgent needs.

The “Airplane Wheelchair” represents a systematic solution that connects hospitals, airports, and airlines, providing a crucial link for seamless travel for those with mobility challenges.

The “Aluminum Wheelchair” embodies a human-centered craftsmanship spirit. By integrating materials science with user-friendly design, it significantly enhances the quality of life and dignity for its users.
